The Introduction to Sailing Course

For beginners and those new to Sailing

The Introduction to Sailing Course introduces people to the pleasures of sailing in a short two day program. 

 

This course is aimed at:

  • Individuals interested and wanting to know more about sailing.  

  • Those who are retired and are now looking for a new hobby but not yet ready to commit.

  • The tourist looking for an adventure.

 

This two day Sailing Experience allows the individual to decide if he or she wants to take the next step in learning to sail  This course can also give additional time saving for those working with limited recreation time in Thailand.

Prerequisites

Individuals must be physically fit and above 12 years old.

Duration & Price

Competitively priced the complete course for two days is 13,000 Baht per person.

Minimum class size is 6 persons.

Daily Course Program

Day 1  -  Introduction to Sailing

​

  • A Welcome to our Introduction to Sailing Adventure.

  • Participants proceed to the Yacht on the Dock.

  • A Brief Introduction and Orientation of  the Yacht, covering:

    • Safety & safety equipment

    • Parts of the boat

    • Sails, rope work & rigging Mooring lines

    • Use of onboard facilities

    • Pre-departure checks.

  • Thereafter we set sail out of the Marina

  • During our Sailing Adventure we will demonstrate the points of sail, tacking and gybing.

  • We will sail to one of the beautiful islands nearby, before we return to back to the Marina.

Day 2  -  Yacht/System Orientation

 

  • Meet up at meeting point and thereafter proceed to the Yacht.

  • Pre-departure checks and then depart the Marina

  • Discussions whilst sailing : Boat Systems 

    • Production boats / charter boats vs traditional design

    • Electrical System – Batteries / Protecting and monitoring your batts / Electrical panel / Switches / Windless breaker / DC 12v and AC 220v shore power etc

    • Water System – Fill caps / Tanks / Manifold / In-line strainers / Pumps / Water usage

    • Refrigeration

    • Galley and Gas

    • Heads and shower pumps / Drains

    • Through hull fittings – locate all, discuss wood bungs

    • Engine – Basic checks: Bilge / Oil / Water / Belt

  • More practical sailing drills: Tacking, Gybing, and Sail handling

  • We will again sail to one of the beautiful islands nearby, before we return to back to the Marina.

The course duration is approximately 6 hours per day.  Refreshments like water, snack and fruits are complimentary on board.  Because of the complications with individuals dietary requirements, we advise to bring your own lunch.
